David Copperfield Pierce

David Copperfield Pierce, 85, of Kingsport, passed away Friday May 16, 2008 at Wellington Place of Kingsport after an extended illness.

David was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He lived in Kingsport all his life, and served in the Navy in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Glen Alpine United Methodist Church. He worked as manager of Alley's Chrysler Plymouth for many years until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David C. and Mary Boyer Pierce; two sisters, Ruth Moore and Vesta Alecock; and one daughter, Kristy Gail Pierce.

Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Evelyn Rose Pierce of Wellington Place; two daughters, Kelly Payne and husband Daniel of Kingsport, Kathy Cooper and husband Kelly of Conway, SC; four sisters Iva Riggs, Irene Snapp, Kate Witt, all of Kingsport, and Winifred Townsend of Cedar Falls, IA; two brothers, John Tom Pierce and Wayne Pierce of Kingsport; two grandchildren, Brandon and Jordan Christian of Kingsport, and one step-grandchild, Corey Cooper of Conway, SC; several nieces and nephews.

The Pierce family will receive friends from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral Services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Monday in the funeral home chapel.

Graveside services will follow at the Pierce Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Alley, Jock Jones, Martin Alley, George Carty, and Wesley Snapp.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Wellington Place and Adventa Hospice for their loving and caring support.
