David Junior Rogers, 71, of Johnson City, went to be with the Lord at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Born in Kingsport, he has resided in Johnson City for the last 32 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for Canteen Vending for several years and retired due to his declining health. He was an avid golfer, and in latter years, really enjoyed his computer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, T. E. and Laura Rogers; an infant daughter, Pam Rogers; and two sisters, Joan and Margaret.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy Gilbert Rogers; very special daughter, Janet Rogers; daughter Lisa Gilmore and husband Jim, of Bluff City; a son, Dwight Rogers and wife Dale, Simpsonville, SC; three grandchildren, Emily, Holly, and Ashley Rogers; six sisters, Ruby Long, Helen Clark, Lois Chapman, Jenny Kinsler, Lorene Mullins, and Dorothy Lane; three brothers, Rev. Orville Rogers, Frank Rogers, and Harvey Rogers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will be conducted at 1:00, with Rev. Orville Rogers officiating.
Burial will follow at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens in Blountville. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
