David Earl Sims

David Earl Sims 57, known by most who knew him as “Big Dave” sadly passed away early on Wednesday morning, January 29th, 2025.

David was born on November 23rd 1967, Thanksgiving Day to his parents Virgil Earl and Janet Marie Short Sims. He was a 1986 Graduate of Dobyns Bennett High School and was employed as an HVAC Tech. He was of the Baptist faith, and was attending the First Baptist Church of Erwin prior to his death. He loved spending time with his family and friends and will be especially missed by his longtime friends John Baldwin, his buddy Coaltrain, his sissy Holly Fink and a host of others- too many to list. 

David is preceded in death by his Mother Janet Marie Sims his Brother Gary Wayne Sims his Great niece Taylor Grace and his beloved dog Max.

Those left to keep his memory alive are his Sons Curtis Dylan Sims, Logan David Sims his Father Virgil Earl Sims his Sister Rhonda Diane Christian his Niece Beckie Williams his Fiancé Christel and their daughter Sophia.

David lived a fast and full life, he always had a smile on his face. He was the apple of his Mother’s eye. He will be deeply missed by all who love him. 

A private family service was held.
