Deba Light Barrett

Deba Light Barrett, 94, of Sullivan Gardens, passed away Friday evening, March 23, 2018, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Deba was born in Blairs Gap Community and has lived in the Sullivan Gardens area her entire life. Deba was of the Baptist faith. She was a mother to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Efferd Barrett; parents, Ples and Virgie Light; son, Ples William Barrett; and nine brothers and sisters.

Deba is survived by her two daughters, Carmelita Barrett Jessee, Emogene Barrett Light; son, Deedie Barrett and wife Shirley; grandchildren, Debra Light, Bobby Jessee and wife Angela, Efferd Barrett and wife Amanda, Jason Barrett and wife Sally; great-grandchildren, Angelita Lance and husband Joe, Cheyenne Jessee; special niece and friend, Judy and Nate Mullinex; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2018, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Preacher Paul Overbay officiating.

Burial will follow at Light Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Nate Mullinex, Homer Light, Jr., Jeff Robinette, Bobby Jessee, Efferd Barrett, Jason Barrett, Adam Mullenix, Brandon Mullenix.
