Dee Ruben Light, 74, Greeneville, TN died at his home Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. on his birthday following a year long battle with cancer.
He was born in Greene County, lived in Wisconsin for several years, and returned to Greeneville twenty-eight years ago. He was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. Dee loved attending Blue Grass functions.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea and Vietnam.
His parents, infant brother, Fred, and grandson, Anthony Scott Courchain, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his spouse, Joyce Cole, of the home; children, Lee and Linda, of California; Tammy of Wisconsin; Kenneth Flanigan, Bulls Gap, TN; Tom Cole, Greeneville, TN; Lisa Fowler, of North Carolina; Jennifer Starnes, Greeneville, TN; and Crystal Collins, of Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, Tyler, Sabrina, Marissa, Brittani, Katie, Victoria, Samuel, and Cole.
The family will receive friends, 5-8:00 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Fall Branch Chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Light Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Posts # 3/265.
