Deleney Wayne Barbour

Wayne Barbour, 76, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday (May 10, 2014) in the Emergency Room at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born in Waycross, Va. on May 6, 1938, a son of the late Buck and Lena Barbour, he has resided in Kingsport his entire life.

He retired in 2000 from Kingsport City Schools and had also been employed at Penn-Dixie. Wayne was of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the United States Army.

He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Daddy, Papaw, Wayne, brother, and friend who enjoyed his wood working, watching grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John Barbour, Jim Barbour, Arthur Barbour, Paul Barbour, Roy Barbour, Tom Barbour, Mac Arthur Barbour, Mac Reeser Barbour, Bill Barbour; and sisters, Haddi Honaker, Lucinda Hilton, Joyce Ann Salyers, and Inez Carter.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Blanche Ward Barbour; daughters, Cathy (Mike) Morelock, of Kingsport, and Karen Barbour Bennett (Jason) Gilliam, of Kingsport; grandchildren, Josh (Rebecca) Morelock, Tiffany (Dave) Carr, Brandi (Bill) Dugger, Andy Morelock, Chelsea Gilliam, and fiancée Greg Hansen, and Adam Gilliam; step-grandchildren, David (Wendy) Bennett, and Michelle (Jerry) Shaffer; great-grandchildren, Makayla Waldron, Madilyn Morelock, Bailey Waldron, Ava Carr, and Zachary Morelock; sisters, Barbara Helton of Church Hill, Shirley Barbour of Kingsport, Emma Jean "Jack" Salyers of Kingsport, and Minnie Lou (Delmar) Carey of Ohio; brothers, George (Peggy) Barbour of Yuma, Va., Amos (Joan) Barbour of Kingsport; several half-brothers and half-sisters; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2014 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Hamlett-Dobson Chapel, Kingsport with the Rev. Gary Calhoun and Rev. Mark (Pete) Barbour officiating.

Burial will follow at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN. Military honors will be accorded by The American Legion, Hammond Post No. 3 and Gate City Post No. 265.

Pallbearers will be Adam Gilliam, Josh Morelock, Andrew Morelock, Dave Carr, Rusty Barbour, Jeff Helton, and Mark Miller.

Honorary pallbearers with be Jason and Mike.
