Delmar Crawford, 74, of Sullivan Gardens died unexpectedly Saturday morning, November 26, 2011.
Born in Hawkins County, he had resided in Kingsport most of his life. He retired from Slip-Not Belting in 2000 after 46 years of service. In 1981, he opened and operated his own leather craft business. Delmar's hobby was being a master leather craftsman and serving the Lord. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Free Will Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. John Enoch Crawford and Ora Belle Crawford; great-grandson, Jacob Aiden Baines; and brothers, Donald Gene Crawford, Rev. Lester Reed Crawford and Rev. Ellis Jasper Crawford.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Shelby Crawford of the home; daughter, Teresa Arnold and husband, Anthony of Kingsport; son, Ricky James Crawford and wife, Sandy of Kingsport; 4 grandchildren, Tonya Hill, Amber Baines, Brent Arnold and Jade Crawford; 6 great-grandchildren, Ryan Hill, Aaron Baines, Cooper Arnold, Rylee Phillips, Harlee Baines and Gunner Phillips; sister, Elmira Marshall of Church Hill; brother, John Crawford and wife, Brenda of Yuma, VA; special sister-in-law, Shirley Crawford of Kingsport; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, November 28, at Hamlett-Dobson, Fall Branch. The service will follow at 7 p.m. in the Chapel with Rev. Raymond Perry and Pastor Wyndell Sydebothom officiating. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 29, at 11 a.m. at Oak Glen Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Hill, Brent Arnold, Josh Baines, David Crawford, Terry Roberts and Paul Housewright. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Thompson, C. L. Chase, Danny Ward, Rev. Orville Dolen, Roy Dolen and Jim LaFollette.
