Dennis Ray "Baldy" Sherfey

Dennis "Baldy" Sherfey, 61, Jonesborough, Tennessee, died Tuesday morning, July 1, 2008, at his home following an extended illness.

He was born in Washington County, TN, where he resided most of his life. Dennis was an employee of Washington County and worked at the Locust Mount Convenience Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy Marie Sherfey of the home; one daughter, Rebecca Bergheger of Keokuk, Iowa; a stepdaughter, Penny Garland of Roan Mountain, TN; four stepsons, Leo Lothridge of Elizabethton, Gary Lothridge of Jonesborough, James Holland of Telford, and Vestil Holland of Jonesborough; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a special friend, Pam Gray; two sisters, Evelyn Holland of Jonesborough, Alice Whitaker of Kingsport; and one brother, Raymond Sherfey of Jonesborough.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Eddie McAmis officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dylan Hashbarger, Ethan Hashbarger, Todd Lothridge, Adam Lothridge, Brian Bergheger, Jim Holland, and Bud Miller.
