Dewey L. Baines, Sr., 84 of Fall Branch, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2008.
He lived most of his life in Fall Branch and was a Corporal 2nd Division in the U. S. Marines during World War II where he received the Purple Heart. Dewey retired from Pet Dairy after 35 years of service and was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. He was a loving father and dedicated husband.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Hope Baines; a son, Thomas Baines; and two brothers.
Surviving are three daughters, Patricia Yarborough of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, Helen Grindstaff and husband Keith of Bristol, TN, Karen Simpson and husband Jim of Bristol VA; one son, Dewey L. Baines Jr. and wife Beth of Jonesborough, TN; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cena Ferguson of Fall Branch, Mary Sue Painter of Church Hill; and three brothers, Carrie Baines and wife Sue of Kingsport, Jim Baines and wife Anne of Kingsport, and Rich Baines of Fall Branch.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:45 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch. Services will be conducted at 4.45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Anthony Adinolfi officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites by Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
