Dewey Kenneth Head, 84, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, following a brief illness. He was born in Scott County, VA and was raised in Kingsport. Kenneth retired from General Shale after 45 years of service as a PUG Mill operator. He enjoyed gardening, the Christmas season and making Christmas decorations. Kenneth's family was very important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them. He was a Christian and enjoyed helping his neighbors and community. Kenneth was also a NASCAR fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Daisy Marguerite Head; their son, Richard Lee Head; parents, Lee and Sarah Head; four brothers, Echol Head, Jack Head, William Head and Roy Head; and three sisters, Berneice Dishner, Lucille Sharpe, and Clara Moore.
Kenneth is survived by three daughters, Evelyn Rafalowski and husband, Teddy, Brenda Owens and husband, Harold, and Faye Payne; four grandchildren, Julia Rafalowski Bailey and husband, Nathan, Trey Rafalowski and wife, Tara, Taylor Payne and Madison Payne; brother, Glenn Head and wife, Faye; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A Celebration of Life will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Robert Cole and son, Rob Cole officiating.
The graveside service will be conducted on Saturday at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Trey Rafalowski, Nathan Bailey, Michael Owens, Jerry Dishner, Frank Dishner, Tony Dishner, Trevor Head, Rob Cole and Michael Slater. Jamie "Ech" Dishner will be the honorary pallbearer.
