Dewey Smith

Dewey Smith, 78, of Blountville passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Select Specialty Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born in Hawkins County, he had resided most of his life in the Kingsport area. He had retired from Rental Uniform following 35 years of service. Dewey was a veteran of the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by parents, Billie and Vernie Smith; two brothers, Hobert and Morris Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Smith of Blountville; two sons, Dennis Smith of Church Hill, Greg Smith and wife, Sharon of Kingsport; one grandson, Matt Smith and wife, Laura; one great-grandson, Jake Smith; one sister, Nellie Smith of Kingsport; one niece and several nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home. The service will begin at 7:00 p.m. with ministers of the Christian Life Center officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 7, 2011 at Tri Cities Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
