Dewey Ward, 90, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 10, 2011.
Born in Hawkins County, he asked Jesus into his life in his early thirty's. Shortly after he answered the call to preach the gospel and pastored various churches for over 50 years. Dewey retired from Tennessee Eastman in 1981. He was a member of Spires Chapel Baptist Church and attended Mountain View Baptist. Dewey was the pastor's pastor.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Ball Ward; daughter-in-law, Mary Ruth Cook Ward; one sister, Vivian Richards; and three brothers, George, Reese, and Roy Ward.
Dewey is survived by one son, Jerry Ward of Church Hill and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2011 at Mountain View Baptist Church in Church Hill. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. at the church with Pastor Ronnie Trent and Rev. John North officiating.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
