Dexal Laster Greer

Dexal Laster Greer left her earthly home November 21, 2015, to join her Savior Jesus Christ and loved ones including her husband of 63 years, Dallas Eugene Greer; daughter, Andrea Erwin; parents, Hal and Callie Laster; sister, Bernice Epps; and brother, Leonard Laster.

She was born in Stickleyville, VA, on November 10, 1927. She moved to Kingsport shortly after graduation and made it her home for the rest of her life. She was an active member of West View Primitive Baptist Church. Dexal worked in PTA at Fort Robinson and James Madison Schools from 1954 until 1972. She was awarded a lifetime membership in that organization. She was president of the Letter Carriers Auxiliary, and retired from Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital after 30 plus years of service. Dexal will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

Left with loving memories are her daughters, Sharon Jordan (Francis) Pitkin, LA, and Colleen Frazier (Terry) Piney Flats, TN; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; sister, Genevieve Washburn, Augusta, GA; brother, Eunice Laster (Mary Ruth) Stickleyville, VA; brother-in-law, Maxwell Epps; sisters-in-law, Charlene Castle, Freda Greer, and Georgia Greer; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Elder Burnice Sybert officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at East Lawn Memorial Park with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Niswonger Children's Hospital, 400 N. State of Franklin Rd., Johnson City, TN 37604.
