Don Aaron Findley, 86, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2013. He was born June 11, 1926, in Gadsden, Alabama.
Mr. Findley served in the infantry in WWII, at the Battle of the Bulge, earning three Bronze Stars. After graduating from Auburn University with a B.S. degree in Business Administration, he moved to Kingsport to work at TEC in the accounting office. He served as Managing Director for Ectona Fibres in Workington, England. He returned to Kingsport as Assistant Controller before transferring to Rochester, NY, to be Manager of Financial reporting at Eastman Kodak. He retired from TEC as Vice President for Finance and Administration.
Mr. Findley was a member of the National Association of Accountants, Phi Kappa Phi, Beta Alpha Psi, and Delta Sigma Pi. He enjoyed photography, coin collecting, and reading.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth Abernathy; son David W. of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter Jane (Paul) Dever of Rochester, New York; granddaughters, Carey Dever of Boston, Massachusetts and Laura (Jonathan) Howard of Rochester, New York.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2013 at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Jack P. Weikel and Rev. Mickey Rainwater officiating.
Entombment in the First Broad Street United Methodist Church Columbarium will be held at a later date.
