Don H. Franklin, Gonzalez, LA, formerly of Fall Branch and Kingsport, TN, born January 15, 1939, passed away after a boating accident, on Friday June 3, 2011.
Don was preceded in death by his father Albert Franklin; mother Anna Lee McGhee Tucker; and brother, Alfred.
Survivors include one daughter, Traci Ball and husband, Bob; mother of his daughter, Marsha Jones; grandchildren, Lindsey and Preston of Winston Salem, NC; brother, Fred Franklin and wife, Cathryn; sister, Louise Dameron; one niece and four nephews; his life partner of 26 years, Betty Kinchen; her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of Gonzales, LA.
A veteran of the Korean War, Don retired as a driver for Mason Dixon and Superior Tank Lines.
Calling hours will be from 1-2:30 pm Friday, June 10, 2011 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. The service will begin in the funeral home chapel at 2:30 pm with Rev. Victor Wallace and David Poore officiating. Visitation is welcome at his brother's home, 3114 Hwy. 81 N, Fall Branch, TN.
Graveside services will be conducted at 4 pm at First Baptist Church Cemetery, Fall Branch. Military honors by the American Legions Posts #3/265.
