Don R. Taylor, Sr., 70, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Sevier County, TN on June 3, 1946, a son of the late James and Veda Taylor, he has resided in this area most of his life. Don was a member of Bloomingdale Baptist Church, and has been employed by various construction companies. He will be remembered as a loving dad, papaw, brother, and friend who loved to fish.
In addition to his parents, preceded in death by his son, Donald R. Taylor, Jr. (April 7, 2006); and brother, Tommy Taylor.
He is survived by his son, Joey Taylor and wife, Kerry of Kingsport; grandchildren, Nakiche Taylor, Alisha Brant and husband Will, and Leah Taylor; step-grandchildren, Nick and Natalie Hale; one great-granddaughter, Kayden Douthat; mother of the children, Yvonne Douthat and husband Gene of Kingsport; sisters, Betty Dutton and husband Morris, Clara McCloud and husband Tom, Nancy Cox and husband Orville, all of Kingsport; brother, Doug Taylor and wife, June of Michigan; sister-in-law, Opal Taylor of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Carl Hutchins, Hobe Hutchins, and Lank Hutchins.
Services will be private.
