Donald E. Baker, 89, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 31, 2012, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, having served in the Pacific during World War II. Don had retired as an electrician from the Mead Corporation. He was a 50 year member of the Kingsport Masonic Lodge 688 and was past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star 198. Don enjoyed playing, singing and listening to old time music. He was of the Baptist faith.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Don is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen C. Baker, of Kingsport; son, Marty Baker and wife, Melisa, of Chuckey; daughter, Donnia Kestner and husband, Phil, of Kingsport; grandchildren, Jon Pitt and wife, Tambra, Andrea Pitt, Aron Baker and wife, Gina and Alisha Fillers and husband, Michael; great-grandchildren, Eli Pitt, Amanda Pitt and Zoey Beth Baker; brother, James Lowell Baker and wife, Edith of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport with Rev. Ed Martin officiating.
