Donald Lester Byrd, 1417 Independence Avenue, Mt. Carmel, TN, was born October 17, 1921, and passed away, Tuesday, August 26, 2008.
He retired from Pierce Ditching Company and was of the Baptist faith.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Lula in 1993; a son, Eual Eugene Byrd in 2003; his parents, George and Dora Byrd; a brother; and a sister.
Donald is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Mack Lane; four grandchildren, Scott and Lisa Byrd and their daughter Linsay, Marty Byrd, Terry Byrd, Becky and Mark Dean; one half-sister; four half-brothers; several great-grandchildren; and one niece, Geneva Mullins and her family.
The family would like to thank the staff at Church Hill Healthcare & Rehab B Wing for their love and care.
Receiving of friends will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Andy Sensabaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Trent Cemetery in Sneedville.
