Donald C. Fulkerson, 81, of the Arcadia Community in Kingsport, died early Monday morning, January 25, 2010, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Donald was born in Kingsport where he resided his entire life. He was an electrical contractor retiring from King Electric in Johnson City. Don was a member of Arcadia United Methodist Church and a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.H. and Kate Fulkerson; brother, Owen Fulkerson; and sister, Rose Fulkerson Duff.
Don is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Hicks Fulkerson of Kingsport; daughter, Vickie J. Fulkerson of Kingsport; sons, John H. Fulkerson of Atlanta, GA, and Donald Fulkerson of Pikeville; grandson, Chan Fulkerson of the U.S. Air Force currently serving in Iraq; brother Paul Fulkerson of North Carolina; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Arcadia United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Grover Starnes, Rev. Bill Gibson, and Rev. Floyd Horne officiating. Special music will be provided by Philip T. Myers.
Burial will be on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Bill Bentley, Frank Bolling, Charlie Hensley, Billy McKenzie, Bobby McKenzie, Richard Nottingham, David Ring, and Gene Snapp. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob McKenzie, James Ramsey, Joe Leonard, and Rick Nottingham.
