Donald Ray Goins, 67, Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 8, 2012 at his home.
Born in Sullivan County, he had resided most of his life in Church Hill. Donald Ray was a veteran of the U. S. Army and retired from the Kingsport Press following 26 years of service.
Donald Ray had attended several Baptist churches in the area.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Grace Luster Goins; three brothers, Paul Goins, George Hobert Goins and Ira "R.J." Goins; three sisters, Lois Berry, Ruby Jones and Carolyn Chafin; and one nephew, Mike Goins.
Donald Ray is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Kay Thompson Goins, Church Hill; two daughters, Tammie McCullough and husband Shirl of Mount Carmel and Patti Ng and husband Ming of Kingsport; one son, Donnie Goins and wife April of Rogersville; five grandchildren, Ming Lee Ng and wife Kirsten, Katie Ng, Dalton Goins, Dakota Goins and Damon Goins; one great-grandson, Cayden Lee Ng; and several nieces.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Troy Daily, Pastor Billy Linkous, and Pastor Jon Rogers officiating. Music will be provided by Cathy Moffitt, Mark and Kathy Marshall.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Church Hill Memory Gardens with military rites conducted by the American Legion Posts No. 3/265.
Pallbearers will be Paul Randolph, Randy Smith, Bobby Napier, Daniel Powers, Jack Ryans and Randy Ramey.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Cole and Butch Moffitt.
