Donald Ray Harris, of Gray, passed away Friday, April 8, 2011 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born in Keokee, Virginia, but had lived in East Tennessee most of his life. Don was owner/operator of Don's & Davis Sanitation Service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Mollie Harris; brother, Bill Harris; and sisters, Madge Huffman, Margaret Price, and Hazel Hamilton.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Shirley Harris; two sons, Eric Harris and wife, Sheila and Rick Harris; two daughters, Pam Greer and husband, Dwayne and Sandy Blankenbeckler and husband, Wayne; special daughter, Phyllis Partain; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Virginia Crawford, Grace Garland, and Madelyn Alley; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Roy Morelock officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ashley and Amanda Boyd and Miara Gehrke.
