Donald Lee McAmis

Donald Lee McAmis, 81, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord at 4:13 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Don was born in Kingsport and lived here his entire life. He retired from Joy Manufacturing of Duffield, and was a member of Reservoir Road Baptist Church, where he was very active until his illness. Don loved to farm his entire life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Iva and Roy McAmis; and daughter, Teresa.

Don is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janet McAmis; two daughters, Donna Fleming and husband Joe of Kingsport, and Pamela Butcher and husband Steve of Kingsport; son, Jeff McAmis and wife Kathy of Lebanon, VA; four grandchildren, Jodee, Hannah, Austin, and Addy Grace; sisters, Avis Reid of Kingsport, Evelyn Bales and husband Jack of Kingsport; Nancy Slagle of North Carolina; and brother, Wayne McAmis and Jo of Carrollton, GA.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 26, 2018, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport with Pastor Keith Smith and Pastor Eddie McAmis

Burial will follow at East Tennessee Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Memorials may be given to the charity of donor's choice.
