Donald Edward Martin, 75, of Knoxville, entered Heaven on Saturday, November 8, 2014. Don was a member of West Knoxville Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a loving husband, proud father and grandfather, and wonderful brother and uncle. Blessed with a contagious smile and laugh, Don never met a stranger. He retired as a Lithographer from Capper, Inc. and previously worked for the Kingsport Press, where he met his wife, Anna. He loved his Lord and Savior, and his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, Jenny, Matt, Leah, and Chris, and great-granddaughter, Adalyn. He was their biggest fan and best encourager.
Preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Hannan and Ardith Marie Martin, Don leaves behind his wife, Anna Martin; children, Steve Martin (Robin) and Donna Gardner (John); grandchildren, Jenny Dickey, Matt Martin (Sarah), Leah Collins (Casey), and Chris Dickey; great-granddaughter, Adalyn Collins; sister, Janelle Carter (Ralph); brothers, Charles Martin (Martha) and Doug Martin (Marilyn); and many extended family.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 12, 2014, from noon to 2 PM at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport with services to follow. Interment will be at Oak Hill Memorial Park with military rites conducted by American Legion Posts 3/265.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Patsy Cox for the love and compassionate care she has shown to Don and the family during his illness.
