Donald Edward Morrison Donald The Great, 88, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon on March 1, 2013 at Wellmont Hospice Hospital. He is now in his Heavenly Father's arms with the Heavenly Choir announcing his arrival. Amen.
He received a honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps on October 4th 1945. He was wounded in action on October 2, 1944. He was just seventeen years old. He participated in action against the enemy at Guadalcanal, BSI, on August 7, 1942, December 14, 1942; Cape Gloucester, NB, on February 19, 1944, April 29, 1944; Peleliu, Palau Islands, September 16, 1944, October 5, 1944. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal on two occasions.
He retired form Eastman Kodak after 40 years and 7 months Foreman, shipping and receiving of service on May 1, 1986. He was a Mason and a member of the Kingsport lodge No.688. He retired to his magical farm where he enjoyed being outdoors, raising cows, chickens, peacocks and farming immensely. He loved wild life and had a red tail hawk, and several generations of deer families that enjoy his kindness and safe quarters. He loved being active. He loved all animals. He always had the most loving and faithful dogs with him from childhood until his golden years. Don learned to box when he was a child from the Kingsport Boys Club. He was the Southern Golden Glove Champion for several years. When the Boys Club stopped teaching boxing Don started teaching boys in his basement and would coach several young boys including his younger brothers. He loved singing and continued to have a beautiful singing voice in his golden years. He loved going to The Madison House Adult Day Services. He enjoyed all the wonderful staff and the special activities there. He was loved by many.
He was born in Kingsport, Tennessee and truly loved the mountains and the heritage. He was the first born son of the late and great Ernest R. Morrison and Mollie Gilbert Morrison. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved and devoted wife Sarah Maude Willis Morrison, his loving brother Buddy R. Morrison, his beautiful niece Mrs. Tom Susie Jones, and his wonderful nephew Steve Faust. All continue to be loved and honored by The Morrison Clan.

Several outstanding generations of nieces and nephews. Don loved the Morrison Family Gatherings and seeing and being with his brothers and sisters. He loved being introduced to new little ones and watching everyone grow up to be such amazing adults. He loved and was so proud of The Morrison Clan. He introduced them to the great westerns and "The Duke" John Wayne, Marion Morrison.
He was blessed with three daughters: Ms. Deborah E. Smith, Kingsport, TN, Mrs. John Judy Price, Roswell, GA, Ms. Janis Marie Cradic, Kingsport, TN
He was double blessed with four awesome grandchildren: William Holt Smith, Cleveland, TN, Laura Nicole Jarrett, Kingsport, TN, Bryan Edward Smith, Arden North, NC, Lisa Joy Price Huseman, Scott AFB, IL
He was also triple blessed with four great grandchildren who he loved with all his might.
