Donald R. Myers, 84, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 5, 2012 at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and a 1949 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School. Donald was a member of West View Missionary Baptist Church and was retired from Tennessee Eastman following 37 ½ years of service. He was a PFC in the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War. Donald loved music and was an accomplished guitar player.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruthann Imogene Whittemore Myers and parents, Edgar and Mary Myrtle Myers.
Donald is survived by his son, Jeff Myers and fiancée, Renee Bishop of Kingsport; two grandchildren, Brandi M. Bell and husband, Doug and Clint Myers and wife, Rachel; two great-grandchildren, Paxton Bell and Cooper Bell; two sisters, Ruth Smith of Blountville and Jeanette Crawford and husband, Everette of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Mike Stout officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 10:30 am at East Lawn Memorial Park with military rites conducted by the Bristol, Tennessee Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Myers, Clint Myers, Harry Crawford, Lowell Crawford, John Cottle and Doug Musick.
