Donald Lee Parris, 81, of Kingsport, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, following a brief illness. He was the son of Paul Parris and Sula Addington Britts. Donald was born in Kingsport where he had lived for much of his life. He was a barber by trade and a sailor by heart, having sailed across the Atlantic and many other places in the world. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Parris; daughters, Ivey Jo and Jan.
Donald is survived by sons, Jonathan Soper and wife, Jaime, of Fall Branch, TN, and Lee Parris, of Panama City, FL; daughter, Linda Carter; eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren; aunts, Edna Heglar, of Kingsport and Helen Ellis, of Greeneville, TN; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Monday, October 1, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
