Donald Edward Starnes

Donald Edward Starnes, 88, Kingsport, passed away July 17, 2019, at Brookdale Rock Springs after an extended illness. Don and Ruth Starnes were residents there.  Don was born in Kingsport, TN on July 28, 1931.  He attended Dobyns-Bennett High School and retired from Mead Corp.  Donald was a great family man and person and was loved by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Callie Starnes of Kingsport, 4 brothers, and 1 sister.

Don is survived by his wife, Ruth Starnes of Kingsport; sons, Michael Starnes and wife, Cheri, and Kenneth (Dale) Starnes and wife, Wanda (Kay); 3 grandchildren, Tifanie Crusenberry, Kaylee Mayo and Amber Perry; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 2 great-great-grandchildren on the way; and sister, Hannah Cavin.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:30 am on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 am with Rev. Joel Trigg officiating.  Burial will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Park.  Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
