Donna Lynn Grim Smith

Donna Lynn Grim Smith, 74, of Kingsport, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. She was saved and loved her Lord. Donna was born in Winchester, VA on May 3, 1950 to Connie June Smoke (Huffman) and Donald Grim. She was one of seven children. Donna graduated in 1968 from James Wood High School in Winchester. She moved to Tennessee in 1978. Donna married Earl Smith, Sr., in 1968 and had two children, Kathy Smith Stora and Earl Smith, Jr. In Tennessee, she graduated from Kingsport School of Practical Nursing in 1980. She worked as an LPN at Holston Valley Hospital while finishing her associates degree from ETSU in nursing in 1987. Donna continued working at HVH as an RN until her retirement in 2002. The last years of her career, she worked at Maxim Healthcare Services in Johnson City, which was her passion.

Survivors include her children, Kathy and Earl, Jr.; brothers, David Grim, Brian Grim, Holmes Smoke and Frankie Smoke; sisters Lori Anne Forney and Tacy Wilson, all residing in Winchester, VA; grandsons, Josh Smith, Walker Stora and Sawyer Stora (the loves of her life); special nephew, Logan Forney.

Donna would like to thank her best friends, Virginia Herring, Regina Dye, her church family and friends, Sandra Gonce, Judy and Mike Sutton and Cathy Ketron.

A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport with Rev. Jim Manis officiating. Graveside services will follow at Logans Chapel Church Cemetery.
