Donna W. Sweet, 79, Kingsport died Saturday, June 16, 2007 at her home following a lengthy illness.
Donna was born in High Point, NC and spent her youth in Virginia where she attended Virginia Intermont College. She moved to Kingsport in 1950.
Donna was the first President of the Sullivan Elementary PTA and established the first Red Cross Clinic in the Sullivan County School System. She was a talented artist and considered a professional in the field of needlecraft.
She was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church and the Kingsport Art Guild.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and her husband, Bruce Sweet in 2003.
Surviving are two sons, Rev. Robert B. Sweet, Jr. and wife Rhoda of Daphne, AL and William ?Bill? Claude Sweet and wife Carrie of Kingsport, TN; seven grandchildren, Nicole Aldridge, Eric and Megan Schimming, Heather Morgan, Robert B. Sweet III, Ashlee Sweet, and William Sweet; and one great-granddaughter, Savannah Aldridge.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mountain View United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Ramey officiating. Inurnment services will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
