Dora Neil Flanary of Kingsport died Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at Preston Place II after a long period of declining health.
Dora was born in Sullivan County where she lived most of her life. She was a successful businesswoman and an active member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church until her illness. She was also a caring and generous mother and grandmother.
Preceding Dora in death were her parents, William D. and Myrtle Hartman Neil Hillenberg; her husband, Cecil Flanary; one son, Don McKamey; brother, William Neil; sister, Myrtle Neil; grandson, Michael McKamey; and her son-in-law, Mack Leedy.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Mickey and Diane McKamey, and a daughter, Patricia Leedy, all of Kingsport; nine grandchildren, David Leedy, Mark Leedy, Sheri McClintock, Donna Monroe, Lisa Isaac, Jeffrey McKamey, Diane Godwin, Brandy McKamey, and Tanya McDavid; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Richard Willis officiating.
Burial will follow the funeral at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family wishes to thank the administration and staff of Preston Place and Preston Place II, along with Dr. Robert Funke, for their loving care of Dora Flanary.
