Dora Lee Tunnell, 89, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 13, 2016. Born in Lee County, Virginia, she resided in Fall Branch most of her life. Dora was a lifelong member of Fall Branch Baptist Church where she had been very active for many years. She especially enjoyed singing in the choir. Dora was known for her cooking skills, she was a wonderful homemaker and retired from Eastman Kodak.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reece Tunnell; parents; Henry Clint and Addie Elizabeth Moore; three sisters, Mary McCrackin, Zella "Peggy" Horton, and Belle Moore; four brothers, Pearl Moore, Frank Moore, Jack Moore, and Denver Moore.
Dora is survived by two daughters, Judy Joyce and husband Jimmie of Fall Branch, and Theresa Snider and husband Dave of Washington D.C.; two sons, Danny Tunnell of Kingsport, and Rick Tunnell and wife Vickie of Fall Branch; one stepdaughter, Brenda Witt and husband Michael of Kingsport; one stepson, Sherryll Tunnell and wife Carol of Blountville; one granddaughter, Michelle McMurray and husband Ronald; seven grandsons, Todd Joyce and wife Lori, Jason Joyce and wife Nikki, Danny Tunnell Jr. and wife Hillary, David Huffman, Kris Huffman, Sean Huffman, and Dillon Snider; two great granddaughters, Sarah McMurray and Brianna McMurray; seven great grandsons, Tyler Joyce and wife Lindsay, D.J. Joyce, Benjamin Tunnell, Michael Tunnell, Isaac McMurray, Josiah Huffman, Declan Snider; three great-great grandsons, Nolan Joyce, Maddux Joyce, and Zaven Marshall; six step-grandchildren; several great step-grandchildren; one sister, Inus Goins of Kingsport; three sisters-in-law, Rosa Moore of Gainesville, Florida, Hazel Tunnell of Chuckey and Marie Tunnell of Greenville; several nieces and nephews; special caregiver, Donna Fox; special friends, Bob and Janie Mullins; and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Carl Strickler and Rev. Vic Wallace officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Fall Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons.
