Doretha Zone Sallee
Doretha Sallee, 83, formerly of Gate City, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 13, 2011, at Church Hill Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Doretha started work at Borden Mills at the age of 14. Later she trained as a lab technician and worked at Holston Valley. She trained as an LPN and worked at Holston Valley, which were her happiest employment years. She completed an AD in nursing at ETSU and worked as an RN at Holston Valley Hospital. She finished her career as a nursing supervisor at Brian Center, Weber City, Virginia.
A visit to Mom & Dad's house always included a meal whether it be a snack or full course meal. The preparing and sharing of food with friends and family is a central tenant of our family. With that in mind, we would like to request that in lieu of flowers or prepared food, a contribution be made to Second Harvest Food Bank 127 Dillon Ct., Gray, TN 37615 or the Salvation Army 505 Dale St., Kingsport, TN 37660 in Mom's name, or a contribution to the church or charity of your choice. For all your prayers, we are grateful.
She was preceded in death by her husband, G. B. Sallee, Sr.; child, Phoebe Doreen Sallee; grandchildren, Jason Kilgore and Bobbie Jean Kilgore wife of Nathan; mother and father, Dora and Lon Shuler; brothers, Dixie, Harold, and Tom; sisters, Janette, Elizabeth, Sarah, Peggy, and Mary.
She is survived by her children, Steve wife, Carol, Patricia Kilgore husband, Ray, G. B. wife, Kay, David wife, Malinda; grandchildren, Steven wife, Amy, Robert wife, Tina, Nathan, Kimberly wife of Jason, LeAnn husband, Dave, Ashley husband, Chris, Jesse, Andrew, Zachary; great-grandchildren, Amber, Abby, Jonathan, Isabel, Ethan, Kaylee, Hunter, Gage, Logan, Lyndsey; brothers, Lon Shuler wife, Mildred, Jack Shuler, E. J. Shuler wife, Barbara; sisters, Barbara Mason, Rebekah Hood husband, John, Glenda Clemmons husband, Jack; and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Friends may visit at anytime at the home of David and Malinda Sallee, 757 Possum Creek Road. Gate City, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Dr. John Hood and Evangelist Wrightly Salling officiating. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2011, at 11 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park.
