Doris M. Blackard, 88, of Kingsport went to be with her Lord on Wednesday afternoon, April 4, 2012, at Johnson City Medical Center after an extended illness.
Born in Scott County, Virginia, she had resided in Kingsport most of her life. Doris was a homemaker and was a loving wife, mother and mamaw. She was devoted to her family and church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Bill Blackard; and infant daughter, Sharon K. Blackard.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Sheila Blackard of Kingsport; son, Billy Wayne Blackard, Greeneville; granddaughter, Krissy Duncan; great-grandchildren Haven and Cade Duncan, all of Kingsport; and nieces, Yolanda Townsend, Kingsport and Nadine Duffy, Phenix City, AL.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, April 6, at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor Raymond Hammonds officiating. Interment will follow the service at Holston View Cemetery.
