Doris Hite Shanks

Doris Jean Hite Shanks, 81, Kingsport, passed Wednesday evening, December 31, 2014, after an extended stay at Wexford House. Doris was born in the Fall Branch Community and had been a resident of the Kingsport area her entire life. She was a graduate of Fall Branch High School. Doris was a member of Rock Springs United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Shanks; parents, Plenie and Ola Hite; and two brothers, Sam Hite and Verlin Hite.

Doris is survived by two sons, Chad Shanks and wife, Tina of Church Hill, TN, and Chris Shanks and wife, Christina of Livermore, CA; grandson, Cory Shanks; two sisters, Louise Russell and Verna Brookshire of Fayetteville, NC; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12-2:00 pm at Rock Springs United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Regina Shelton and Pastor Buddy Butler officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
