Dorothy L. Conkin, 100, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at Barbara Egan Nursing Home in Shrewsbury, PA. She was a native of Greene County having moved to Seven Valleys, PA, in 1997 to the home of her daughter, Lois Hunt.
Mrs. Conkin was born August 30, 1908, the daughter of the late Frank and Pearl Teague Staten. She was the wife of Harry T. Conkin for 52 years until his death in 1980. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Tom, Lyle and Gordon.
Mrs. Conkin was a lifelong member of the Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.
In addition to her daughter Lois Hunt, Mrs. Conkin is survived by a son Paul and his wife Dorothy of Nashville. She leaves seven grandchildren, Keith Conkin of Middlebury, VT, Claudia Conkin Neeley of Monroeville, PA, Lydia Conkin Wong of Cary, NC, Tom Hunt, Susan Hunt Dayhoff, John Hunt and Joe Hunt, all of Seven Valleys, PA; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Rocky L. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery, where she will be put to rest beside her late husband, Harry Conkin.
