Dorothy L. "Big Mom" Frazier, 86, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born in Norton, Virginia, and had resided most of her life in Kingsport. Dorothy attended Friendship Chapel Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents, George L. and Rhoda Collier; two brothers, Jackie Collier and Auburn Collier; and one sister, Charlotte Wampler.
Surviving are her husband and love of her life for the past 60 years, Fred Frazier of Kingsport; three daughters, Kay DeVault of Kingsport, Libby White and husband Drew of Nashville, Ann Franklin and husband Charlie of Kingsport; five grandchildren, John and Sherry Wright, Nick White, Sharon Weems, Jessica and Josh Hurd, David and Charis Kindle; eight great-grandchildren, Brittany Wright, Cody Wright, Dustin Wright, Evan Wright, Summer Weems, Holly Weems, Parker Weems, Lynnzi Hurd; one sister, Georgia Talarowski of New Jersey; one brother, Bobby Joe Collier and wife Gail of Barrington, Illinois; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Clawson, Minnie Cox, and Cecile Collier, all of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Joe Hill officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Sons-in-law and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
