Dorothy Carter Goins, 75, of Kingsport, went to be with Jesus Monday, November 2, 2009, at the Wexford House after an extended battle with COPD.
She was born August 30, 1934, in Sullivan County where she spent her entire life. Dot was employed by J.P. Stevens until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. Dot was a very caring person who never met a stranger.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hobert Goins; son, Mike Goins; father and mother, Henry and Clara Carter; sister, Janice Callahan; and brother, Kenneth Carter.
Survivors are two brothers, Bob Carter of Kingsport and Glen Carter of Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Dot is also survived by special family, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald Ray and Kay Goins, and their family who were all a great inspiration to her.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating.
Burial will follow the funeral service at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Donnie Faulk, Aaron Cody, Alan Marshall, Harold Hudson, Kenny Carter, and Harry LaForce. Honorary pallbearers will be Hack Vaughn and Donnie Goins.
