Dorothy Brumit, 94, Kauai, HI, formerly of Kingsport, died Friday afternoon after a brief illness. Born in Harlan, KY, she was raised in Elizabethton, and resided in Kingsport since 1950, before moving to Kauai, HI in 2014. Dorothy was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and attended Milligan College. She worked as a realtor for Kingsport Development Company and Carolina Caribbean for several years. Dorothy was a volunteer with Girl Scouts, John Palmer Center, and Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. She was a member of the Ridgefield's Garden Club, Kingsport Symphony, and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Dorothy was an enthusiastic golfer and tennis player, having played well into her 80's. She enjoyed needlework, gardening, and cooking. She was a beautiful person inside and out, and was blessed with a quick wit and a wicked sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Brumit; and two sisters.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Anne McKenna and husband, Michael of Kauai, HI; granddaughter, Molly McKenna of Chicago, IL; brother-in-law, Philip Brumit and wife, Peg of Indianapolis, IN; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Ilene Allen and Lee Tate.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Steve Counts officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Gathering Room of the church.
A private family entombment will be conducted at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank the staff at Kauai Adult Day Health Center and special caregiver, Violetta Riopta, for their love and support.
