Dorothy Grills Christian

Dorothy Grills Christian, 92, Church Hill, TN, went to rest on the 17th of March, 2016. Born in Baileyton, TN, she worked at the Kingsport Press for 28 years as the cafeteria manager. She then worked at Jack's Restaurant and at the Mountaineer before retiring. Dorothy was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of Rebekah. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, a wonderful cook, and lover of church and helping others.

She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Rev. Charles W. Grills; 2nd husband, Rev. Herman Christian; mother, Willie Lowe; father, Carson Lane; granddaughter, Tanya Morse; and 2 brothers, James Lane and Billy Ernest Lane.

Dorothy is survived by 4 daughters, Margaret Tyler and husband, Glen, Rachel Dan "Billie Sue", Nancy R. Johnson and husband, Coy, and Beth Ann Grills; 4 grandchildren, Glen Tyler, Jr. and wife, Pam, Paula Huff, Deborah Casey and Norman C. Huff and wife, Kathy; 11 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Rose Fillers; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Danny Sykes officiating.

The graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Park. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
