Dorothy Jean Hargis

Dorothy Jean Hargis, 90, passed away on February 23. 2025, at her home. She was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee and married the love of her life in 1954; they settled in Kingsport in 1961. Jean was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family and helping others. Her greatest passion was being baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses for 66 years. She loved to laugh and made friends with all she met.

Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband David; her parents, 3 sisters and one brother. She is survived by her children; David (Emily) Hargis, Melanie (Joe) White, Daniel (Rebecca) Hargis; grandchildren, Britney (Jake) Hitchcock, Katherine and Nathan Hargis; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, plus many special friends.

A graveside service, officiated by Joe White, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, in the small chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Blountville. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace.

A public memorial service via zoom will be available at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 5824 Ft. Henry Drive, Kingsport, Tennessee. Please contact one of the family members for further information.
