Dorothy M. Mullenix, 76, of Kingsport, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2011. She was born in Sullivan County and lived in Kingsport all her life. Dorothy was a homemaker and a member of Walker Fork Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth Mullenix; grandson-in-law, Michael York, husband to Dawn York and special father to their children; parents, William and Lena Carroll Crawford; sister, Ruby Johnson and special friend, Margaret Cutshaw.
Survivors include her two sons, Larry Mullenix and wife, Ruth, Jerry Mullenix and wife, Dorothy C.; five grandchildren, Dawn York of Blacksburg, SC, Shawn Mullenix of Denver, CO, Lindsey Mullenix and Steven of Kingsport, Ashley Mullenix and Scott of St. Charles MO, Bobby Mullenix of Kingsport; three step-grandchildren, Shannon Begley and wife, Erica of Blountville, Daniel Begley of Kingsport, Kandi Begley of Kingsport; six great grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren; sister, Tenie Cline of Greeneville, TN and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 Friday, February 4, 2011 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. The service will begin at 8 pm with Rev. John Crawford and Rev. Jeff Wallen officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 pm Saturday at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Shannon Begley, Daniel Begley, Bobby Mullenix, Storm York, Chris Conkin, Randy Conkin, Travis Conkin and Austin Conkin. Honorary pallbearers are Dorothy's Beechwood friends, Kyle Chase, Clarence Crawford, Keith Morrell, and all her other special friends.
