Dorothy Marie Penley, 66, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2011. Dorothy was born in Hawkins County where she had lived her entire life. She was a member of the Friendship Freewill Baptist Church in Baileyton, TN.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her sister, Ann Matthews and brother, Albert David Simpson.
She is survived by her husband, Clint Penley of Kingsport; two daughters, Violet Byers and husband, Steve of Kingsport and Eva Royston and husband, Tim of Fall Branch, TN; son, James Crawford and wife, Mandie of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Rita and Lauren Byers and Timothy James Royston; seven sisters, Vickie Miller, Nellie Morelock, Elsie Miller, Jessie Garber, Eda Mae Wamsley, Violet Simpson and Wanda Sue Brumfield; six brothers, Bob Simpson, Johnny Arnold, Marvin Simpson, Jim Simpson, W.C. Simpson and Milburn Simpson.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, December 15, 2011 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Fall Branch. Services will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Bob Simpson and Rev. Rick Bowser officiating, Honorary minister, Rev. Orville Dolen.
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, December 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Bowser Cemetery in Rogersville, TN.
Pallbearers will be James Arnold, Paul Ward, Brian Crawford, Rex Miller, Brandon Hall and Archie Bowser. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Byers, Tim Royston and Charlie Penley.
