Dorothy Pauline Tipton Salyer

Dorothy Pauline Tipton Salyer, 85, of Kingsport, went to be with her heavenly father on Monday, June 18, 2012 at home after a brief illness. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Reservoir Road Baptist Church. Pauline was born in Scott County, VA, but lived most of her life in Kingsport where she was employed for many years at Tennessee Eastman and JC Penney.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Everett L. Salyer; mother, Polly Carter; stepfather, Bud Carter; father, Liburn Tipton; two sisters, Emogene Taylor and Frankie Lee Tipton; and brother-in-law, Glen Taylor.

Pauline is survived by daughter, Enola Gay Salyer of Kingsport; grandchildren, Lisa Winstead Pereira and husband, Bobby of Kingsport, and Tony Winstead and friend, Pam Lancaster of Kingsport; great-grandchildren, Erika Matthews and husband, Stephen of Gray, David Harris of Melbourne, FL and Michael Bass of Melbourne, FL; brother, Gary Carter and wife, Betty of Kingsport; nieces and nephews, Gena Taylor Quillen and husband, Perry of Dunnganon, VA, Paula Taylor Massey and husband, Rhea of Kingsport, Joely Way and husband, Brian of Fall Branch, Shannon Carter and wife, Laura of Kingsport, Lindsey Quillen Stapleton and husband, TJ of Dunnganon, VA, Dustin Quillen of Johnson City, Brayden Massey of Kingsport, Joshua Massey of Kingsport, Madeline Carter of Kingsport, Dahlia Tester of Kingsport, Christian Tyler Carter of Kingsport, Morgan Way of Fall Branch, Whitney Carter of Fall Branch, and special friends, Betty, Bill, Sandy Dodson, Bertie Mullins, Lois Thacker, Rene Dignan and Joyce Wolfe.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 21, from 11-1:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport and anytime at the home. Funeral services will follow with Rev. Leland Salyer officiating.

Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Mitchell, Michael Bass, David Harris, David Massey, Stephen Matthews, Jerry Ward, Shannon Carter and Rhea Massey. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Dodson, Gary Carter, Brayden Massey, Joshua Massey and Dustin Quillen.
