Dorothy Wise Short

Dorothy Wise Short, 73, of Jonesborough, died Friday, August 14, 2009, at her home following a brief illness. Dorothy was born in Kingsport where she lived most of her life. She was a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing and being a homemaker.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Cline and Anna Wise.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Roy K. Short of the home; two daughters, Debra Lynn Short of Zionsville, PA, and Rebecca Lee Carie and husband Randy of Nashville; a son, Anthony Keith Short and wife Teddie of Kingsport; grandchildren, Bryan Short, Christy Palermo, and Zachary Carie; great-granddaughter, Makenzie Addie Grace Short; sisters, Ruth Crawford and husband Jerry, Lorene Gilreath, Pauline Gilliam, and Joann Qualls, all of Kingsport; a brother, Bobby Tate Wise and wife Patsy of White Pine; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral Services will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. Edward C. Dillowe officiating.

Interment will be at Holston View Cemetery following the funeral service. Pallbearers will be friends and family members.
