Joseph F. ?Doug? Douglas, 74, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Sunday December 31, 2006 at his home following a brief illness.
Born in Fort White, FL, he had resided in Kingsport for most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Douglas was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kingsport. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, having worked in Duffield, VA. He was a member of the Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW and the American Legion Post 3/265.
He was preceded in death by first wife, Thelma Irene Jones Douglas; parents, James Riley and Loca Belle Williams Douglas; two brothers; and two sisters.
Surviving are wife, Georgia Irene Willis Douglas, Kingsport; son, Mark Anthony Douglas and wife, Valerie, Kingsport; step-daughter, Debbie Allen and husband, Ronnie, Gray; step-son, Jim Willis and wife, Susan, Oneida, TN; two step grandsons, Jason Summers and Eric Summers, Kingsport; sister, Kathleen Cason, Fort White, FL; sister-in-law, Pauline Winstead and husband, B.W., Kingsport; one special nephew, Eddie Winstead and wife, Debbie, Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Bishop David DeBry officiating.
Entombment services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at East Lawn Memorial Park with military rites conducted by the Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
