Douglas "Wayne" Ketron, Sr., 75, Jonesborough, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at his home. Wayne was retired from Holston Defense and a member and choir director at Logans Chapel United Methodist Church. He had a songfest every summer to benefit the choir at the church. Wayne had a great love for people and music.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Wallace Ketron, Sr., and Alberta Lee Ketron; sister and brother-in-law, Norma Peters and Wayne Peters.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie "Bonnie" Ketron of Jonesborough; two daughters, Sonya Smith of Oak Ridge, TN and Denise Lewis and husband, Rick of Jonesborough; six sons, David Lane and wife, Wilma of Jonesborough, Michael Lane and wife, Debbie of Unicoi, TN, Jeff Ketron and wife, Alvina of Gray, TN, Keith Hopson and wife, Valerie of Kingsport, Doug Ketron, Jr., of Gate City, VA, and Preston Ketron and wife, Terri of Gray TN; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Wallace Ketron and wife, Nina of Kingsport; and several special nieces, nephews, sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 20, from 5-7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Fall Branch. Services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Wesley Duncan and Rev. Ray Amos, Sr. officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Logans Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Fall Branch.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
