Douglas "Doug" Grady Riner, Jr., 51, of Kingsport, died on Sunday, May 6, 2012, and is walking with his mother, in heaven. Born December 30, 1960 in Orlando, FL., Doug was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School where he was a talented football player and a graduate of Northeast State. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Doug was a beloved son, brother and friend to all.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Jane McGrady; maternal grandparents, Harrison and Blanch McGrady; paternal grandparents, George and Rosie Riner; five aunts and twelve uncles.
Doug is survived by his father, Douglas Grady Riner, Sr. and, stepmother, Nancy, of Kingsport; sisters, Debbie Riner of Kingsport, Carla Sue Olterman of Kingsport, Roslyn René Riner of Jonesborough, and Kimberly Ann Riner of Kingsport; brother, George Dewitt Riner of Kingsport; stepbrother, Gregory Pierce; five nieces, three nephews, four great-nieces and eight great-nephews; uncles, Bill McGrady and Jake Riner; aunts, Susie Robinette, Billie Collins and Beulah Copas; and great friend, Joe Robinette.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 10th from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport and at anytime at the home of the father at 1605 Spruce St. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 with Dr. Cecil Sturgill and Pastor Jerry Musick officiating.
