Dr. Alton J Morris
Dr. Alton J. Morris, 80, of Kingsport, died Friday morning, July 25, 2008 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in New Orleans, LA, he had resided and practiced rheumatology in Kingsport for 30 years. Dr. Morris graduated from Tulane University and Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans.
His sister, Roberta Kenney and her family preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon T. Morris of the home; one daughter, Noel Morris Muenzer and husband, Victor of Chicago, IL; four sons, Dr. Christopher Morris and wife, Jane of Kingsport, John M. Morris and wife, Lisa of Kingsport, Joshua A. Morris and wife, Kathleen of Johnson City, and Dr. Patrick R. Morris of St. Louis, MS; eight grandchildren, Gregory and Gabriel Muenzer, Christopher and Amanda Morris, Noah and Luke Morris, Annabelle Morris, and Natalie Estep; one brother, John H. Morris, Jr. of Oldsmar, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at St. Dominic Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Burton and Rev. Paul Valleroy officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
Burial will be at a later date at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Dominic Catholic Church, 2517 John B. Dennis Hwy, Kingsport, TN 37660.
