Dr. Patricia Burchett Hollenkamp

Dr. Patricia Burchett Hollenkamp, 69, Asheville, formerly of Kingsport and Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly while visiting family.

She was born in Kingsport on January 21, 1944, a daughter of the late Cecil F. and Bernice Pridemore Burchett. Dr. Hollenkamp had lived in Michigan where she maintained her practice as a clinical psychologist for many years. She had moved to Asheville, NC in July 2013.

Dr. Hollenkamp was a 1961 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School. She received her Bacherlor's Degree from Wake Forest in 1965 and her Doctorate from Union Institute.

She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mom, grammy, sister, and friend who liked to travel, ski, dance, play bridge, and appreciated music, art, and nature.

Dr. Hollenkamp is survived by daughter, Dawn Kurc and husband, Gary of Dublin, OH; two grandchildren, Sabrina Kurc and Mia Kurc, both of Dublin, OH; her fiancé, Tom Duckwall, Greenboro, NC; three sisters, Sona Foster (Rev. Don), Kingsport, Connie Smith (Tony) Tucker, GA, and Viv Lees (Doug), Ashburn, VA; many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be celebrated at the graveside at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2013, at East Lawn Memorial Park. Those attending are asked to assemble by 2:45 p.m.

Honorary pallbearers will be Marty Wunsch, Larry Egan, Dana Layman, Becky Gepner, and Lynn Sorrell.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions may do so to an organization of the donor's choice.
