Dr. Robert D. Doty

Dr. Robert D. Doty, 90, of Kingsport, died Tuesday morning, July 13, 2010, at Baysmont Asbury Place.

A native of Rogersville, he had been a resident of Kingsport since 1952. He was a member of Waverly Road Presbyterian Church for 49 years. Dr. Doty practiced as a general surgeon in Kingsport and Rogersville for many years.

Surviving are his four sons, Robert D. Doty, Jr., and wife Gemmie, Clarksville, TN, Anderson D. Doty, Rogersville, David B. Doty, Durham, NC, and Don W. Doty, Rogersville; daughter, Carol Woody, Rogersville; one adopted daughter, Lorraine Nichols, Petersburg, TN; thirteen grandchildren, Rachel, Rebecca, Sarah, Angela, Brandon, Justin, Jessica and husband, Ralph, Josh, John, James and wife, Amber, Marie, Jesse and wife, Cristin, and Daniel; great-grandchildren, Megan, Dylan, Jareth, Gabriel, Andy, and Danica.

A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, October 3, at 3:00 p.m. at Doty Chapel, Greene County. Interment of cremated remains will follow in the church cemetery.
